Our U.S. Province’s new Center for the Brazilian Apostolate is beginning to work well and in the last few months several initiatives have been held there.

The first and very well-attended event, which took place in October 2016, was a catechetical formation encounter that featured guest speaker Dom Leomar Brustolin, Auxiliary Bishop of Porto Alegre, Brazil, who is the author of a catechetical series and also books on formation printed by our sisters in Brazil. A second event took place in November to celebrate the Brazilian Congress for the Family. A third was held in December with the Holy Family Institute. And the fourth and largest gathering was the celebration of International Women’s Day. Almost 400 women attended this all-day event, which featured several speakers, including Sr. Roseane do Socorro Gomes Barbosa, fsp, the author of a book on the virtues of Mary, who gave a talk on the Blessed Mother.

Our sisters ask for prayers for their apostolic activities among the Brazilians and other Portuguese-speakers in the United States. They say that this initiative, which started from “Bethlehem,” is still young but holds great promise!
