To celebrate the Month of the Word, the FSPs of St. Louis, Missouri, organized an exposition of the Gospel and Acts of the Apostles–one of the 7 volumes of the Heritage Edition of the Bible. This special edition of the Word of God is the first hand-written, hand-illuminated Bible to be realized in the 500 years since the invention of the printing press. It was commissioned by St. John’s Benedictine Abbey in Collegeville, Minnesota, and took 7 years to complete. The series is currently on loan to the Archdiocese of St. Louis, which offered the FSPs the chance to display one of the volumes in their book center–a golden opportunity for our sisters since the Scriptures are the center of our life and mission as “apostles of the Word.”

The 3-day display was accompanied by the presence of an expert to answer any questions about the Heritage Bible and by a continuous screening of a documentary on how it was created. In the evenings, a guest speaker delivered a conference on the Word of God, followed by an experience of Lectio Divina guided by the FSPs and their postulants.

Our sisters write that they were very happy to be able to help draw people to a deeper appreciation of the beauty of God’s Word during this special time.
