The FSPs of the Congo have opened a new apostolic center in Matadi–a Pauline presence born of the commitment and sacrifices of our Kinshasa community. Matadi, a port city, is located in the extreme southeast of the country. It is built on stone, hence its name Matadi, which in the local dialect means “stone.”

At the blessing ceremony, the mayor of the city, Pathi Nzuzi, and Bishop Daniel Nlandu Mayi praised the evangelizing and cultural mission of the Daughters of St. Paul. Teachers, local media workers and many members of Matadi’s Christian flock also expressed their admiration and joy for the cultural presence and evangelization activities of the FSPs. The event did not resemble a simple book shop opening but had the flavor of a new foundation. In fact, it is a special response on the part of our sisters to the insistent invitation of Jesus Master to reach other Congolese peripheries to proclaim to everyone the joy of the Gospel.
