Called To Be Heralds of Hope

Pauline communicators are called to be heralds of hope in the midst of a culture of death. This thought was highlighted in the welcome address of Sister Noemi Vinoya, FSP Provincial Superior, during the 9th Media Assembly held at the Paulines Communication Center, Pasay City.

Attended by Daughters of St. Paul working in various areas of communications, the Assembly revolved around the same theme as World Communications Day: Fear Not, for I am with you (Is. 43:5): Communicating Hope and Trust in Our Time.

In her talk, Sr. Pinky Barrientos, fsp, proceeded underscored four key points of the papal Message: (1) to engage in constructive forms of communication and foster a culture of encounter; (2) to never allow apathy or pessimism to overcome us because of all the bad news we hear; (3) to “read” reality through the right lens by focusing on the good news; and (4) to be witnesses and communicators of a new humanity, redeemed through the death and resurrection of Jesus.

Another speaker, Fr. Khris Llacer, ssp, then sketched out the spirituality of the Pauline communicator, focusing on three of its characteristics, namely: sensitivity to the needs of the people; creativity in presenting the Good News in an appealing way, and fidelity to searching for God alongside everyone else.

The Media Assembly was capped off by workshops conducted on the production of social media content for evangelization, especially short video clips that can be shared on the Province’s YouTube channel: Paulines Multimedia PMPT.
