The migration phenomenon and the tragedy of thousands of migrants and refugees forced to flee from wars, hunger, persecution and environmental disasters caused by climate change, are depicted in a video presented at the twelfth edition of Madrid’s Publifestival, an International Social Advertising Festival that promotes positive change in society through social advertising.

Available in 30 languages, the 3½-minute video, awarded the “Best Strategy in Social Action” Prize by the Festival, was produced by the Section for Migrants and Refugees of the Vatican Dicastery for Integral Human Promotion. In it, Pope Francis proposes 4 verbs–to welcome, to protect, to promote and to integrate–which he says should be at the center of the actions of governments, organizations and citizens working in the area of human mobility.

The awards ceremony, which was held at the Fernando Rojas Theater of the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid, was attended by the representatives of advertising agencies from all over the world, who applauded the Vatican’s contribution to this serious matter. The video was also presented at the United Nations headquarters in New York and in many other places around the world.
