To celebrate World Communications Day 2018 the Daughters of St. Paul and Society of St. Paul organized a day-long symposium entitled Fake News and the Pope, held in the FSP Alberione Auditorium in Pasay City.

The annual celebration was attended by more than 200 people, including representatives of the clergy, men and women religious, seminarians, students, lay organizations, other members of the Pauline family and the Daughters of St. Paul.

Guest speaker Fr. Norman Pena, ssp, shed light on the issue of fake news as reflected on by Pope Francis in his message for this year’s World Communications Day, while Ms. Ilsa Reyes, a broadcaster and author, underscored the importance of being responsible and critical in responding to issues, especially those that circulate online.

At the end of symposium, the participants prepared a Journalism for Peace Pledge of Commitment, professing their belief that “all information should be for the formation of the human person.”
