Fr. Alberione began his pastoral service in this parish. Here he came in contact with the day-to-day situations of his hardworking parishioners and their families. Certain aspects of the Pauline charism bear the imprint of these years, for example: Alberione’s strong insistence on the pastoral aspect of the Pauline mission, his foundation of the Institute of Jesus the Good Shepherd (Pastorelle Sisters), and the importance he placed on the vocation apostolate. It was during this time that Fr. Alberione became acquainted with young Joseph Giaccardo, who would become the first priest of the future Society of St. Paul.
